Ben moved to the Des Moines area and was exposed to KCBS Competition BBQ.   It became apparent that competition BBQ was something that was rarely seen in Northern Wisconsin.  We were given direction by our mentor team Woodfellas (Ankeny, IA) and our BBQ has been getting better every time we cook.

We began to learn that ribs don’t have to fall off the bone to be delicious, that boiling ribs was a mortal sin and that there are sauces and rubs out there that are unbelievable.

On a whim, we decided to begin experimenting with our first smoker - an FEC 100 and soon thereafter with a Big Green Egg (pictured left).  After we got hooked on BBQ, we began using our smokers whenever possible.  You could say that we have developed a new type of smoking addiction.

The next logical step was to try some competitions - let’s put our BBQ to the test against others...perhaps we can find others who share in our smoking addiction

While 2009 only brought us 2 contests, we have been working all Winter to improve our BBQ and make 2010 a huge year for the team.

2010 has brought the team a new trailer and another competition schedule across Iowa, Wisconsin and Illinois.  We also have multiple sponsors and have been requested to cater - people seem to like us.  Or maybe they just like our BBQ?
